A 20-year-old Fox Lake man is in jail today after fleeing officers on Monday night. A chase began when a Sergeant with the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office clocked a VW doing 54 MPH in a 30 MPH zone in the central part of the city. When the Sergeant tried to stop him he sped away southward on Main Street, exiting the city on Highway 175.
Another deputy successfully deployed stop sticks near Highway B and deflated both driver’s side tires, but the driver continued another half mile before coming to a halt. Officers then did a high-risk traffic stop, prompting the man to exit his vehicle and charge at the officers despite commands to stop. At that point he was tased and taken into custody.
He was checked out at a local hospital for minor injuries from the Taser and booked into the Fond du Lac County Jail on Fleeing & Eluding charges, as well as Suspicion of OWI and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and was also issued multiple traffic citations for the six-mile chase.
