After taking the Labor Day weekend off, Wisconsin DOT crews will again be busy with I-43 reconstruction and related projects beginning Tuesday, replacing expansion joints on the Highway PP overpass between Sheboygan and Kohler, while also conducting shouldering, guardrail and pavement marking operations along the length of the project. Drivers will also encounter work to replace sign structures on Highway 23 between County Highway Y and Taylor Drive.
While work on the I-43 southbound collector and distributor system at Highway 23 is now open, it will be another 3 weeks or so before the northbound counterpart can again accept traffic, and detours remain in place. That being said, an overnight closure of the southbound I-43 ramp to westbound Highway 23 is scheduled between 8 PM Thursday and 6 AM this coming Friday.
Maintenance crews will also be repairing pavement on both north and southbound I-43 between Wilson Lima Road and Highway 28 beginning Tuesday and finishing by 3 PM Thursday, September 10th. Continuous lane closures will be emplaced during those repairs.
Those using Highway 28 between Sheboygan and Highway 57 can expect intermittent delays and alternating traffic patterns while work continues to repave that section of the highway, and reconstruction of the bridge near County Highway N still requires a detour using County Highway U until that bridge can be reopened.
