Marian D. Lisowe (nee Lemkuil), age 94, of Plymouth, passed away at Sharon S. Richardson on Thursday, August 27, 2026.
Marian was born on July 18th, 1932, in Sheboygan County, a daughter of the late Garret and Mary (Mulder) Lemkuil. She was a 1951 graduate of Kohler High School. Marian grew up on a farm south of Plymouth and enjoyed the outdoors working next to her dad, moving cows, milking and doing field work, sometimes with horses and sometimes with the tractor.
On September 19, 1953, she married Jacob M. “Jake” Lisowe at The First Reformed Church in Sheboygan Falls and shortly thereafter became a member of Salem United Church of Christ in Plymouth. Jake preceded her in death on December 22, 2015.
In the early years of their marriage, Marian and Jake worked to build a strong family with good morals and work ethics. She always put her family first and enjoyed every minute spent with kids, grandkids and great grandkids. She was the neighborhood “mom” with treats, band aids, clean t-shirts and anything else that was needed. Other interests included gardening, canning and cooking. Marian listened to many hunting stories from family and prepared wild game for the table and all to enjoy. The backyard grill was her second stove and “a beer a day” was a good thing. Over the years Marian also went skiing and bowled, had many family trips and adventures that took her Up North, fishing in Canada, skiing in Colorado, visiting Germany, Hawaii, and Oregon. Kids, grandkids and great grandkids kept her life filled with happiness.
She had various employers over the years including Stokley Van Camp, Sentry Foods, Plymouth Hospital and City of Plymouth.
Survivors include two children, Gary (Sue) Lisowe, Cheryl Rortvedt; Daughter-in-law Joyce Lisowe; 7 grandchildren, Angie (Toby) Tollman, Chris (Lynn) Lisowe, Adam (Julie) Rortvedt, Bradley (Laurel) Rortvedt, Garett (Jenny) Rortvedt, Jordan (Mariah) Lisowe, Justin (Abbey) Lisowe; 19 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by Jake, two sons: Larry and Jacob, her parents: Garret and Mary Lemkuil; son-in-law, Steve Rortvedt, six sisters, three brothers and other in-laws, relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at Salem United Church of Christ from 10:00am-12:00pm; with a Funeral Service to follow at 12:00pm. Rev. Mike Donahou will officiate. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Marian’s name.
