National surveys reveal significant gaps in public perceptions about the nation’s blood supply. Laura McGuire with the American Red Cross Wisconsin Region says only about half those surveyed thought they or someone they know would ever need blood.
“Keep in mind, in the United States, somebody needs blood every two seconds. So we, as the Red Cross, being a national provider of blood, want to make sure that the blood is where it’s needed, when it’s needed.”
