Streets in the Village of Cedar Grove are in a seeming state of disarray, and that’s in part because of the replacement of lead service lines. But there’s much more to the story as the US Department of Agriculture is investing nearly $9 million to reconstruct around 3,700 feet of the wastewater collection system and also reconstruct water mains in the affected area. The results should be: reduced clear water inflow at the treatment plant, and the remediation of issues with water main breaks and mineral build-up…along with the replacement of those lead service lines.
Funds come in two loans, $4.052 million for the wastewater collection system and $3.562 million for the water mains system through the Water and Waste Disposal Loan and Grant Program. The award was announced Monday by USDA Rural Development Wisconsin State Director Andrew C. Iverson, who noted that “Reliable water infrastructure is crucial for the well-being of rural communities,” and that “Projects like these protect public health, support economic growth, and help keep utility costs affordable for residents,…”
