Hail as large as three inches in diameter pounded Sheboygan County and neighbors to our west and north as several rounds of severe thunderstorms moved through on Wednesday.
The first at around 9 AM affected northern reaches, with Elkhart Lake reporting hail nearly an inch in diameter. But the main show moved through in the early afternoon with reports of hail as large as 2-1/4 inches covering areas stretching from Glenbeulah to Sheboygan, mostly north of Highway 23. Fond du Lac County experienced hail as large as baseballs shortly before that storm moved through here. Wisconsin Public Service reported over 8,000 customers lost power and was still working to restore some early this Thursday morning.
Thunderstorms are already moving through our area this morning, and more storms are expected to develop again this afternoon – mostly after 4 PM – and some of those could be severe.
Plus, day-4 of the heat wave continues with an Extreme Heat Warning in effect until 10 O’clock tonight.
