Although not as bad as was feared, severe thunderstorms still managed a final blow to Sheboygan County on Thursday before much quieter weather now sets in. Meteorologists blamed a “Gravity Wave” that’s similar to ripples in a pond for quickly spawning a vigorous storm, generating wind gusts near 62 MPH at the airport, moving east through the County and causing widespread wind damage through much of the area.
Although not a complete list, most reports involved trees on power lines, some causing fires including in Sheboygan on Sibley Court and near 13th and Huron Avenue, near the Wade House in Greenbush, on Park Lane in Kohler, on Highway “N” near Nichols Creek, and with trees blocking a roadway on Snake Road north of Elkhart Lake.
Much quieter weather is now expected with more garden-variety thunderstorms Saturday afternoon and evening the only interruption to what should otherwise be a beautiful weekend.
