The Manitowoc man accused of sexually abusing his young step-granddaughter has had his bail cut in half, with stipulations.
Eric Lemberger was in court yesterday, asking for a reduction in the $50,000 cash bond that had been previously set in his case. The judge agreed to lower the bail to $25,000.00 cash with a $25,000.00 surety bond on his residence. Prosecutors had asked the court to deny the reduction, arguing that Lemberger had the money and resources available which would allow him to flee, if he chose to. The State also noted that the bail amount was appropriate given the severity of the crimes he’s charged with.
The Defense argued that Lemberger had complied with the court and had significant ties to the area. In the end, the judge agreed to the reduction, but imposed restrictions stating that if bond is posted, Lemberger is not to leave the county, and is required to check in with the Manitowoc County Jail once a week.
