Handcuffed Suspect
The Sheboygan Police Department was among agencies who investigated crimes against children allegedly committed by a 22-year-old Green Bay man – activities that resulted in a federal grand jury indictment against him.
US Attorney Brad Schimel announced on Wednesday that William G. Waterstradt was issued a three-count indictment on charges of the sexual exploitation of children. The investigation was launched after explicit photos were reported on the phone of a 12-year-old student.
Detectives identified multiple underage victims as young as 12 years old – which Waterstradt had falsely claimed were 16 or 17 – three of which engaged in intercourse with Waterstradt who recorded them on his phone and distributed to others. Though not specifically stated, involvement of the SPD suggests some victims may be from Sheboygan.
Waterstradt is charged with production of child pornography, which carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years and up to 30 years in prison, as well as being charged with two counts of child enticement, each carrying a mandatory minimum of 10 year and up to life. A trial date was not announced.
