A Saturday afternoon fire in Kiel caused significant damage to a garage and the home it was detached from before firefighters were able to extinguish it.
The Kiel Fire Department is investigating the blaze that was first reported shortly after 4 PM to a home in the 600 block of 9th Street in Kiel. Responding firefighters were immediately confronted with a garage fully engulfed in flames, and which had already begun spreading to the residence as well as beginning to damage another garage and home nearby. Although it took only 10 minutes for Kiel Fire Department crews to bring the fire under control, damage estimates are running around $150,000.
The cause is under investigation, and anyone that may have photos or video taken before firefighters arrived is being asked to contact Public Information Officer Ben Jeanty at benjamin.jeanty@kielwi.gov
