A Sheboygan Falls woman who has been in ICE custody since March is set to appear before a judge today. The Sheboygan Press reports Elvira-Benitez-Suarez is scheduled to face a judge in Memphis for a bond hearing.
The hearing comes after a ruling by the US Court of Appeals last week, which states that detained non-citizens who have lived in the US for years should have the chance to argue for their release, explaining their situations and connections to the community.
Benitez-Suarez had been detained by ICE agents last year, and was released. She was arrested again in March, while checking in for an appointment with immigration officials in Milwaukee.
