A man is in jail in Fond du Lac after a pursuit ended with the vehicle he was driving vaulting completely over a street on the city’s northwest side.
The Fond du Lac County Sheriff became involved with a request for backup from the Wisconsin State Patrol when they stopped a wanted felon on I-41 near highway 151. Their arrival prompted the 44-year-old Milwaukee man behind the wheel to flee, exiting at South Military Road. A high-risk stop was attempted but failed.
After leading the chase through parking lots he re-entered I-41 north until he took the Winnebago Street exit. That’s where the driver lost control, traveled up the south side embankment of Winnebago Street and vaulted completely over that road, landing in the opposite ditch. Officers had to tase the man who tried to run away.
The driver was out on bond and operating the vehicle without the owner’s consent. After medical attention he was booked into jail on multiple felony charges.
