Efforts by the City of Sheboygan plant, grow, and maintain trees to benefit its community have earned the “Tree City USA” designation from the Arbor Day Foundation. The designation establishes Sheboygan as the longest Tree City USA in Wisconsin at 48 years. City Forester, Tim Bull, said that he was inspired “…to apply for and earn a Growth Award every year since I became City Forester in 2019.” The City of Sheboygan holds the record as the longest Tree City USA in Wisconsin at 48 years.
The Arbor Day Foundation is a global nonprofit with a mission to inspire people to plant, nurture and celebrate trees. Its Tree City USA program is operated in partnership with the National Association of State Foresters and the USDA Forest Service.
Sheboygan celebrated Arbor Day with a tree planting on April 26th, and will hold another tree planting at 8 AM on Saturday, May 9th at Lincoln Erdman Elementary School.
