A person suspected as the driver in a hit-and-run incident in Washington County on Monday has been arrested.
Washington County authorities were called to the accident scene on Hillcrest Drive in the Town of West Bend around 8:30 Monday evening where a vehicle had struck both a pedestrian and a dog. That vehicle then fled the scene on Highway 144 leaving the dog dead and its owner injured.
Investigators matched vehicle parts left at the scene with surveillance reviews and DOT records, and along with evidence analysis and interviews eventually zeroed in on a suspect at 7:30 PM on Thursday. A Chevy Silverado truck was partially concealed in a driveway in the City of West Bend which matched the damage left at the scene of the accident. The 54-year-old West Bend man who owned the vehicle was taken into custody without incident and is now in the Washington County Jail awaiting formal charges from the District Attorney’s Office.
