A violent crash resulted in a motorcyclist needing to be rescued from a ravine and flighted for hospital treatment on Tuesday evening.
Fond du Lac County authorities say that an 18-year-old Fond du Lac man was apparently eastbound on Golf Course Drive near Taycheedah when he lost control, entered the south ditch, and then struck a culvert and trees before coming to rest at the bottom of a ravine. Rescuers found him 30 yards down that ravine unconscious, but still breathing. Because of his serious injuries Flight for Life was called to transport him to Theda Care Regional Medical Center in Neenah.
Investigators say that speed was a factor in the crash, and a helmet was likely a factor in the man’s survival. Golf Course Drive had to be closed for about 45 minutes. A full investigation remains underway.
