The threat of severe weather remains today as a weather system remains mostly stuck over Wisconsin. The position of the nearly stationary front responsible for generating rounds of severe thunderstorms, tornadoes and torrential rains, will be the key factor today.
If it sets up near the Illinois border, then northeast winds off Lake Michigan will keep the risk of small hail and flooding rains well to our south. If the front lifts northward, then the chances of large hail, damaging winds, flash flooding and an isolated tornado will be present in the counties south of I-94, while Sheboygan County would have a lesser – but still present – chance of severe weather.

With the Sheboygan and Pigeon Rivers currently flooding, rainfall amounts will be closely watched as there’s the potential for up to an inch falling today. And while river levels were subsiding this morning, that trend is vulnerable to whatever happens in the next few days. Right now, forecasters expect a break from most thunderstorm activity on Thursday, but it appears the threat for more thunderstorms could reappear on Friday.
