A break in a seemingly endless chain of storms has allowed the Sheboygan River to return within its banks, ending the flood warning that had been in effect. A Flood Watch was issued midday Wednesday to be in effect from 4 PM April 15 until 7 AM on Thursday the 16th.
The National Weather Service said that both areal and flash flooding could result from excessive thunderstorm rainfall, should that occur. Current forecasts estimate that between 3/4 and 1 inch of rain could fall tonight, and with the current gauge at Esslingen Park showing the river beginning to level out just below the “Action” stage of 6-feet, such rain could return levels beyond bankfull within the next day or two.
