As small as the risk may be, the National Weather Service isn’t downplaying the chances that weather overnight could result in slippery conditions for travelers. A Light wintry mix of snow and freezing rain is being eyed, mainly for areas north and northwest of Madison where a small chance for icing – mainly on elevated surfaces – is of concern until temperatures warm above freezing on Wednesday morning. That would occur around sunrise, with is near 6:15 AM.
Precipitation should hold off until after 11 PM tonight, when a thin glaze could result from light freezing rain and snow. Rising temperatures after sunrise on Wednesday should make quick work of any glaze that results, but until then it will pose a hazard to travel.
Milder conditions quickly follow, with highs mostly reaching near, or into the 50s for the remainder of the week.
