The body of a missing 20 year old Manitowoc man has been recovered near the Manitowoc Lighthouse.
Manitowoc Police responded Sunday afternoon to the area for a missing person report. Based on information from witnesses, officers believed the unnamed man may have gone into the lake. An extensive search effort led by the US Coast Guard was launched, alongside Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. The man’s body was recovered by a dive team Monday afternoon at the bottom of the Lake Michigan.
Police say they do not suspect any foul play and there is no threat to the community. The man’s name was not released, but anyone who might have information is urged to call Manitowoc Police.
