One forecast that still challenges the National Weather Service is that of a lake effect snow event in eastern Wisconsin, and that’s proving to be the case now.
Meteorologists do expect a band of snow to form over the relatively mild waters of Lake Michigan, but subtle changes in wind direction are the key to who gets how much of the white stuff. However, possible accumulations are now becoming apparent, and it’s not looking like a major event, coming in two rounds.
On the light side, totals anywhere from a trace to one inch will affect eastern Sheboygan County. In the heavier scenario, snow extends further inland, lasts longer, and could add up to two inches.
Of more concern is timing, as the first round is expected from 7 AM until 3 PM Friday, likely affecting the morning commute. Round 2 arrives at 6 AM Saturday and lasts until the early afternoon if forecasters are correct.
Temperatures are finally expected to rise to near 20º on Saturday, and into the mid 20s on Sunday, with light snow showers again possible by Sunday night.
