For persons suspected of a residential burglary in Beaver Dam were apprehended some 50 miles from the scene within hours of committing the crime.
The burglars stole a large amount of US currency and jewelry, and drove away in a Black SUV with Nebraska plates, a report conveyed to the Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Office around 11 PM Tuesday.
By 3:15 AM Wednesday the vehicle was located in the driveway of a residence on Lakeshore Road in the Town of Grafton that had apparently been rented by the suspects who were inside when deputies arrived.
The home was surrounded and commands to exit were given multiple times by loudspeaker, prompting two suspects to try escaping from the rear. They quickly went back inside and deputies then called in the Ozaukee County Multi-Jurisdictional Special Response and Drone teams, who succeeded in convincing three persons to leave. A fourth exited later and all were booked into the Ozaukee County Jail on multiple charges.
The case is being investigated by both Ozaukee County and Beaver Dam officials, and more charges may be issued.
