After serving as somewhat of a lightning rod at last week’s Common Council meeting, the City of Sheboygan is updating the public on planned revisions to the zoning code.
The item drew attention during the regular public input session as well as during a public hearing last week.
A release from City Hall on Friday related that the current code is nearly 30 years old and loaded with restrictive land use regulations that no longer serve modern community needs. The process of revision began in 2024, specific changes were developed in 2025 and the initial draft presented in December. The input received during the January 5th Common Council session is being used to further revise the zoning code and that process continues.
The zoning code has been referred back to the Plan Commission for more work and those with concerns are being encouraged to contact their alderperson to provide additional feedback.
