The National Weather Service issued Winter Weather Advisories for much of eastern Wisconsin in the wake of a burst of morning snow.
Rain dominated the onset of precipitation in the early morning, but by 7 AM snow dominated what was falling, and waited little to begin collecting on frozen ground and roads. By 8:30 AM the advisory was issued, in effect until 1 PM Saturday.
A slushy total of 1-3 inches was expected, with possible 4-inch amounts in the Kettle Moraine, but in the wake of the system sunshine will still be possible before sunset. A few snow showers may punctuate the night under mostly cloudy skies and brisk winds driving wind chills into the single digits.
Brisk conditions will continue on Sunday, but with sunny skies somewhat countering the wintery winds.
