The City of Sheboygan may be getting a new craft distillery.
Eucatastrophe Distilling and Botanicals presented their proposal for transforming a building currently used for vehicle storage into a fully-operational craft distillery with both indoor and outdoor components.
The indoor operations at 1619 Calumet Drive would include production space for distillation, storage and bottling, along with a tasting room and retail area. Outdoor use would include seasonal seating, a landscaped gathering space that could also host occasional, small-scale events, all contained within the property boundaries.
In addition, the group says they plan to collaborate closely with local colleges, trade schools, and workforce programs to create internship and experiential learning opportunities concerning the fermentation and distillation processes while also offering students practical exposure to small business management in a craft environment.
The proposal was approved by the City’s Plan Commission. The measure now goes before the full Common Council for final approval.
