The first significant winter storm of the season hit Sheboygan County and most of the Midwest on Saturday, and it appears that earlier brushes with snowfall accomplished some “early training” for area drivers.
According to the Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office, there were no major incidents and only a few cars in the ditch, with drivers displaying caution and preparedness on Saturday and overnight. That, as snowfall of at least 6” fell on most of the area.
As expected, Lake Michigan warmed the air immediately near the shoreline, increasing the moisture content and reducing the accumulation of the resulting snow.
Here’s a sample of recently reported snowfall as of Saturday night and Sunday morning:
5.5” Sheboygan
6” Cedar Grove
8.4” Mount Calvary
8.3” West Bend
6” Campbellsport
10.5” East Troy
In the wake of the storm, a Winter Weather Advisory was issued until 3 PM today for blowing and drifting snow as northwest winds of 25-35 MPH begin ushering cold air into the area in the storm’s wake. Those temperatures will plunge into the single digits by Monday morning, putting wind chills slightly below zero.

The next chance of snow comes on Monday afternoon and evening, but the impacts are, for now, being characterized as “nuisance” by National Weather Service forecasters.
