Attorneys for accused killer Luis Cruz-Burgos are asking the Court either for a change of venue, or for jurors to be chosen from outside Sheboygan County.
Cruz-Burgos is accused of killing Canadian tourist Giovanni “Mike” Robinson back in September after Robinson and friends attempted to negotiate a ride from Sheboygan Falls to Kohler with him. Eventually the group chose to walk instead. A short time later it’s alleged that Cruz-Burgos drove by and shot into the group, striking Robinson.
Attorneys for Cruz-Burgos say the high-profile case has been widely discussed in the media and on social media threads, making it difficult for Cruz-Burgos to receive a fair trial.
Cruz-Burgos has pleaded not guilty to Reckless Homicide charges.
