Most items contained in Sheboygan County’s Five-Year Capital Plan passed on Tuesday by the Sheboygan County Board were called “very much needs doing, but very much unexciting”, by County Board Administrator Alayne Krause. In a Wednesday morning visit on Sheboygan’s Morning News, Krause did point to improvements coming to the Sheboygan County Airport as one of the highlights.
She said that funding was allocated to reconstruct one of the runways as part of a multi-year project. Krause noted that the County won’t be responsible for the full bill.
“We are thankful to get a lot of funding and reimbursement through the Bureau of Aeronautics and the FAA, so thankfully the County’s cost to those projects is very minimal. Usually, it’s only about 10 percent that the County has to pay for those projects, and those other entities kick in the 90 percent, so it’s a very beneficial relationship for the County.”
Besides reconstruction of the airport taxiway, the plan also includes continuing construction at the south County Shed.
