Rodney W.T. Hammes, 86, of the town of Rhine passed away at his home on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 following an extended illness.
Rodney was born on October 25, 1938 in Sheboygan a son to the late Sherman and Kristine (Mliner) Hammes. He attended schools in Sheboygan graduating from Central High Scholl in 1957. On May 24, 1958 he was united in marriage to Linda Blevons at Ss Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Sheboygan. Together they owned the North Star Bar and then Rod and Linda’s Bar on N. 12th and Lincoln in Sheboygan. In 1988 they purchased Faye’s Pizza and operated it until their retirement in 1996 In retirement they resided in Florida in the winter and in the Wisconsin Dells in the Summer eventually returning to Sheboygan County. Rodney was well known for his stories and jokes, an attribute enjoyed by the patrons at the North Star and Rod and Linda’s Bar. He could always be found playing a game of cribbage or shaking dice with the patrons. He also enjoyed bowling and sponsored a team from Rod and Linda’s. Fishing was a favorite pastime when spending time at Mirror Lake near Wisconsin Dells.
Rodney was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Elkhart Lake.
Rodney is survived by his wife, Linda, a daughter, Jeanine Hammes (Nick) of Elkhart Lake; his brothers, Lawrence Hammes of Beloit and Richard (Barbara) Hammes of Hilton Head SC; a sister, Kristine Hammes (Jim) of Plymouth and his sisters-in-law, Jean (Quentin) Milz of Rhinelander and Beverly Blevons of Sheboygan and a brother-in-law, Jack (Janet) Blevons of North Ft. Myers, FL Nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and lifelong friends further survive. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, David Hammes.
The Hammes Family wishes to extend a special Thank You to the Aurora Home Hospice Team for the wonderful care they provided Rodney. In addition, a heart filled Thank You to Robyn Bonelli for her many visits and haircuts.
A funeral service for Rodney will be held at 12 Noon, Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at Grace Lutheran Church in Elkhart Lake with Rev. Peter Peitsch officiating. Family and friends may visit at the church, 210 Lincoln Street, Elkhart Lake on Tuesday from 11 am until the time of service at 12 Noon. Private entombment will take place in Gardens of Peace Mausoleum, Sheboygan.
In preference to flowers, memorials in his name are preferred.
