Friday morning found the Sheboygan area still dealing with poor air quality and high waves on Lake Michigan.
Canadian wildfire smoke that had permeated the air for the past several days and boosted particulates to unhealthy levels for all on Friday, still lingered overnight with moderate air quality by sunup. However, forecasters expected those conditions to ease by noon Friday when the advisory expires.
Meanwhile, brisk northeast winds whipped up waves of 3-5 feet on Lake Michigan, creating dangerous swimming conditions. Accordingly, a beach hazard statement was in effect since Thursday. Those conditions were gradually easing, though, and the National Weather Service expects the Beach Hazard Statement to expire at 10 AM.
Better weekend weather should feature sunny days and comfortable nights with highs near 80 and lows in the 50s.
