The threat of some significant thunderstorm activity has the National Weather Services sending a heads-up to those in our part of the state.
The possible storms will accompany a cold front that passes through on Friday night, with storms progressing toward the northeast. Forecasters are pretty confident of the severe potential, but exactly how severe isn’t yet certain. They could be strong with early development, but the later they form, the less chance of any severe activity.
Both before and after the actual thunderstorms, it looks like another stretch of strong winds will set up, with the highest on Saturday when they’ll be sustained at 25-30 mph with gusts near 40.

NWS Graphic
Temperatures could hit near 60 degrees ahead of the system on Friday and not drop much below the mid 40s until Saturday night, and after a projected half inch or so of rain, the system looks to finish by putting down a few light snow showers before dry weather sets in by nightfall on Sunday.
