A messy and powerful weather system has left Wisconsin soaked in the south and snowed-over in the north. The snow was affecting areas northwest of a Lacrosse-to-Crivitz line, while for the Sheboygan area, it’s been all rain so far, with about four-tenths falling during Tuesday, and another quarter inch or so by 5 a.m.
Although rising slowly, the Sheboygan River remained around two feet below the “action” stage of minor flooding, but with frozen ground, there’s still runoff to collect and plenty of ponding occurring on roads and fields.
While rain will transition to snow between about 1-3 p.m., the only advisory in effect has nothing to do with precipitation, but rather concerns a Wind Advisory to be in effect between 2 p.m. and midnight today. Wind gusts in the range of 40-45 mph will be common during that period, while the progressively drier snow could cause some slippery spots in blowing snow after temperatures fall below freezing late this afternoon, with less than an inch accumulation predicted in all.

NWS Graphic
No arctic blasts await behind this system, with only seasonal temperatures to follow for the remainder of this week.
