Louella Meinnert, age 91, of Johnsonville, went to join her Heavenly family on February 25, 2025 with
her family by her side at her home.
She was born on August 5, 1933 to the late Cornelius and Helen (Lindow) Schaap in the Township of
Plymouth. Louella lived and went to school in the Plymouth area, graduating in 1951.
On September 8, 1956, she married Milton Meinnert and moved to the farm in Johnsonville. Together
they had three children, Barbara, Kenneth, and Jeff. Milton preceded her in death on July 27, 2015.
Louella worked at The Borden Co. and then the Dairy State Bank for several years, and worked at the
Plymouth Hospital for 20 years.
She was a member at Saron United Church of Christ in Johnsonville.
Louella is survived by her children: Barbara Meinnert, Kenny (Kari) Meinnert, and Jeff (Deb) Meinnert, all
of Johnsonville; five grandchildren: Jake (Allison) Meinnert, Wes (Kaliegh) Meinnert, Matthew (Angie)
Meinnert, Michelle (Austen) Schmidt and Emily (Michael) Birenbaum; step-grandchildren Bethany
(Jason) Mertes, Sam Ahrens, Josh (Samantha) Ahrens, Cassy (Jessie) Conto, Jeremy (Eloiza) Stoelb; five
great-grandchildren; and 18 step-great-grandchildren. She is further survived by four sisters-in-law: Alice
Thomas, Evelyn Meinnert, Jeanette Meinnert, and Diana Meinnert; and brother-in-law, Eugene Leonard.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Cornelius and Helen Schaap; father and mother-in-law
William and Eliza Meinnert; sisters, Marlene (Gordon) Karsten, Gladys (Willard) Beringer, Judith Schaap,
and Cleo Leonard; sisters-in-law, Helen (Lawrence) Klemme, Anita (Richard) Derlin, and Dorothy (Harold)
Grunewald; brothers-in-law, Willard Meinnert, Walter (LaVerne) Meinnert, Harold (Marlene) Meinnert,
Roger Thomas, Marvin Meinnert, and Norbert Meinnert.
A funeral service will be held on March 13, 2025 at 7:00 PM at Saron United Church of Christ in
Johnsonville. Pastor Dan Krueger will officiate. Visitation will take place from 3:00 PM until the time of
service at 7:00 PM. Light refreshments will be served following the service at Church. Inurnment will be
in the Parish Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Louella’s name.

I’m so sorry for your loss. I worked with her at Plymouth Hospital and
she was a true joy to work with. We had lots and lots of smiles right
