A long-period snowfall underway since Friday night has prompted the National Weather Service to extend a Winter Weather Advisory for much of Wisconsin, including Sheboygan County, until 6 p.m. Saturday.
Snow accumulations from overnight were generally in the 4” range in the eastern part of the county with lesser amounts to the west. Elkhart Lake reported 2.8” had fallen as of Saturday morning, while amounts in the Milwaukee Metro Area were closer to 6”.
Still to come – more snow, some falling from bands that are forecast to form and produce locally heavier amounts thanks in part to Lake Michigan’s moisture, and an additional 4-6” accumulation can be expected in the eastern half of the County by Sunday night, with 2-4” accumulations closer to the Kettle Moraine.

On Sunday in particular, an additional half, to one-and-a-half inches of snow may accumulate before dry air from the northwest brings precipitation to a quick finish, but opens the door to an arctic incursion that threatens wind chills in the 20s below zero on both Monday and Tuesday mornings that may require issuance of a Cold Weather Advisory.
