The next push of winter weather anticipated for the Sheboygan Area has the potential to put down double-digit snow totals by Monday morning. The snow is expected in two distinctly different periods, the first taking the form of a burst of heavy snowfall lasting between 2 and 4 hours while falling at between 3/4 and one inch per hour. Around here, that should fall mostly between 7 and 11 p.m., featuring rapidly deteriorating conditions that could go from clear to low visibility quickly enough to catch some off-guard. Accordingly, a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 6 this evening until 6 a.m. Saturday during which 4 inches are likely to accumulate.

Snow will then continue at a lesser pace until mid-morning Saturday when it again picks up…beginning a more uncertain second-act.
That uncertainty lies in the fickle nature of Lake Effect snow. Winds are expected to be from the northeast for most of Saturday, opening the door to enhanced snowfall due to moisture from open water. While that could be anywhere from only another 2, or potentially up to 8 inches, pushing totals into the one-foot range, there’s only a 10% chance that totals would go any higher than that.

Saturday advisories won’t be issued until later today when more should be known, but for now, take it one step-at-a-time with tonight’s advisory, and be prepared for more to come.
