An expected 5-8” snowfall failed to materialize for the Sheboygan area on Wednesday, with those more serious impacts seen instead to our south.
Snow began around 8 a.m. Wednesday and continued at light-moderate pace throughout the day, but a lack of moisture overhead resulted in lower totals than feared. Accumulation was slow enough that traffic was able to manage the risk, and the Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office reported no major accidents, and only a slide-out or two was noted. By midnight things wound down with about 3-1/2” of new snow covering Sheboygan County.
The City of Sheboygan did declare a snow emergency effective at 6 a.m. this Thursday, meaning residents must not park on Snow Emergency Routes, boulevards, cul-de-sacs and dead-end streets. Parking on all other streets should be on the odd side until the plows clear the even side – usually two or three passes – and then vehicles are encouraged to move to the cleared side of the street.
Today’s weather, although breezy enough to blow some of the new snow around, should otherwise allow for easy cleanup ahead of the next expected system arriving Friday afternoon.
