A light dusting of light, fluffy snow overnight into Tuesday morning will be more of a curiosity than a concern, as a weak weather system moves through, with the most likely period surrounding the midnight hour. Motorists may encounter slippery spots, but little else for now, with the best chances of accumulation in Sheboygan County occurring the further to the northwest being considered. A quiet Tuesday will provide time to prepare for what’s expected on Wednesday.
The chances of significant snow have been increasing according to the National Weather Service, which says that a northward shift of the system involved has warranted a Winter Storm Watch for Ozaukee and Washington Counties along with points to the south to be in effect for the period from noon Wednesday until 3 a.m. Thursday.

NWS Graphic
For now, widespread accumulations of 2-4 inches are expected in Sheboygan County, but there is a potential for more. With Lake Michigan enhancing the moisture – and/or any further northward shift in the storm path, closer to 6” could collect in the southeast corner of the county, with more like 4” toward Elkhart Lake. But if that scenario does become apparent, the watch area would likely be extended to our county sometime on Tuesday.
If we do miss out on this system, there’s another chance of snow arriving Friday afternoon that could carry another 4-6” snowfall potential to the area.
