Big ideas often start small, but with a bit of motivation – like a contest – those ideas can grow to fruition. That’s the idea behind the AccelSC Pitch Competition, a product of the Sheboygan County Economic Development Corporation, New North and the Sheboygan County Innovation Council. Those organizations’ latest competition has declared the winners with the top prize of $3,000 going to Alex Suscha, who placed first with his idea for “Sourcer AI”. The UW-Stevens Point student and Sheboygan County native has launched his AI SaaS platform that gives users a look beyond the news headlines to discover the facts. Second place went to Tyler Heilberger of Plymouth, awarded $1,500 for his unique “Rosebud” family travel software that helps families find unique, customized vacation experiences. The winner of “The People’s Choice”, $500 award, went to Tyler Rezachek who pitched his start-up business idea for “Hi-Ho Soda”, a drink made from real sugar and no artificial colorings or flavorings, a product already enjoying statewide distribution.
The winners advanced to the New North finals that were held at TitletownTech in Green Bay on Thursday, but were topped by another regional enterprise, “Peggy Bakes”, created by Peggy Sonnenburg of Valders. After beginning her business selling her Peggy Bakes all-natural baked granola products in Elkhart Lake earlier this summer, Sonnenburg added three other markets by late July, and has now landed 47 orders across 12 US States in just the first 8 weeks of presence on the web.
