A welfare complaint has resulted in a scramble for supplies after dozens of dogs were taken from a Town of Calumet residence in Fond du Lac County.
Sheriff’s Deputies there responded to complaints of an unpleasant odor coming from a home there, and a welfare check revealed 70 dogs in various stages of health. The conditions in the home were called “deplorable”, and in need of significant attention.
A search warrant was issued, and conditions required the Calumet Fire Department’s hazmat squad to ensure a safe and thorough operation. All dogs were safely turned over to the Eastshore Humane Association in Chilton where they’ll be given proper care and attention.
Given the scale of the unplanned operation, donations of dog and puppy foods, blankets, bowls and money are being requested.
