Sara Ann Olsen, age 62, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 12 th , 2024, after
a brief hospital stay in which she was surrounded by her family. Sara was born on
February 6, 1962, to Willis and Arlene (Starck) Olsen in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. She
was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Sheboygan, where she was both
baptized and confirmed. Sara attended Cooper Elementary School, James Madison
Elementary School, Urban Middle School and was a graduate of Sheboygan North High
School’s Class of 1981.
Sara is survived by her mother, Arlene Olsen, sisters Sue Grasse (Tim) and Karen
Borresen (Marty), and brother Greg Olsen (Jamie). She is also survived by many loving
nieces and nephews – most of whom greatly enjoyed their time with Sara when she
babysat them throughout their childhood years: Bryan Dreps (Anja), David Grasse,
Kevin Grasse, Erik Borresen (Shanan), Andrew Borresen (Jenna), Taylor Olsen (fiancé
Scott Blair), Emily Olsen and Evan Olsen (Molly). She was preceded in death by her
father, Willis Olsen.
Sara was a happy-go-lucky soul who made friends wherever she went. She truly
enjoyed spending time with dear friends at the Riverview Apartments in Sheboygan,
where she was a longtime resident. Sara enjoyed decorating for every season and her
apartment at Riverview was always fully adorned for the next holiday in line. She also
enjoyed watching her Green Bay Packers, win or lose – though winning was far more
fun. And though she loved the Packers, she was also a true fan of the Dallas Cowboy
Cheerleaders – the subject of one of her many favorite television shows. She loved a
good whiskey old fashioned, too. (Perhaps even second one if Mom wasn’t watching!)
Most of all, Sara loved her family – especially her nieces and nephews, her great nieces
and great nephews, and her cousins – especially the Messner family from Milwaukee.
Sara was a special woman who could light up a room and make you laugh with her off-
the-wall phrases. You never knew when she was going to come up with a real zinger!
The Olsen family would like to thank Pastor Tim Mech and Pastor John Berg from Trinity
Lutheran Church for ministering to Sara throughout her life, but especially through her
recent health issues. They would also like to thank Dr. Robert Horth and Dr. Michelle
Rejman for the exceptional care they provided to Sara. Finally, the family would like to
thank the staff of the Intensive Care Unit and Inpatient Hospice units at the Aurora
Medical Center in Sheboygan for the care they provided during her last days. A private
celebration of life will be held in November 2024 for Sara’s family. She will be laid to
rest at Lutheran Cemetery in Sheboygan.
