Mary Ann Neuses, 95, of Sheboygan, passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at LakeHouse Sheboygan, where she had been residing.
Mary Ann Neuses celebrated her 95th birthday this year having been born in Indianapolis, Indiana, on April 13, 1929. Her family moved to Miami, Florida, where Mary Ann graduated from Edison High School. After graduation, she attended college in the Washington D.C. area where she met and married Thomas P. Neuses on the 9th of September, 1950.
Shortly thereafter, they moved to Madison, Wisconsin, and in 1953, when Tom finished his law degree, they moved to Sheboygan. For many years, they resided on Huron Avenue before retiring to Kohler.
Mary Ann finished her bachelor’s degree and MSW at UW- Milwaukee and was employed by the Sheboygan County Mental Health Center as a Psychiatric Social Worker. Eventually, she and two friends opened a store, Cheese Please, on 8th Street in Sheboygan, where she loved meeting people.
She also enjoyed working at Country Crafts, in Plymouth, for many years. Additionally, over the years, Mary Ann volunteered at the Mead Public Library, Great Marriages, Planned Parenthood, and the Salvation Army Clinic.
Mary Ann also loved gardening, doing puzzles, playing bridge, entertaining, and spending time at their cabin in Manitowoc County. They traveled with family and friends to many countries, and spent several weeks wintering at Sanibel Island. She especially enjoyed bird watching, participating in the Audubon bird counts, and traveling with the birding group, lead by Victor Emanuel.
She was proceeded in death by her parents and her husband of almost 60 years, Thomas; her grandson, Benjamin Trester; sister and brother-in-law Jane and Bud Bliven; and many friends spanning over 70 years. Surviving Mary Ann is her brother, John, of California; son, David T. Neuses, of Sheboygan; and daughter and son-in-law, Martha and Bill Bronson, of Atenas, Costa Rica; grandchildren, David (Leslie) Bronson and their sons Caleb and Aaron, and Dawn (Steve) Orlebeke.
A memorial service will be held at Grace Episcopal Church, 1011 N. 7th Street, Sheboygan, on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. Friends and family are welcome at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
Memorial donations can be made in Mary Ann’s name to a charity of your choice.
