Outdoor plants that you’d like to keep alive a while longer should be protected overnight, as the National Weather Service has issued a Freeze Warning between 1 and 9 a.m. on Wednesday. Most of Sheboygan County is likely to experience heavy frost, with lows expected in the low-mid 30s, but some spots, especially those inland of the lake, could record temperatures as low as 29 degrees that can kill crops and other sensitive vegetation, and could also damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.
We’re not alone, with much of Southern Wisconsin under the warnings along with a majority of the nation’s midsection, and most of those without warnings are exempt because they’ve already experienced a freeze this fall.
For the record, the last freezing temperature in Sheboygan was 172 days ago, on April 26th when the low dropped to 29 degrees.
