If you have any “Chili John’s” products in your fridge or cupboard, you’ll want to check to see if it’s been recalled for possible problems. Zee Best Foods of Green Bay has issued a voluntary recall of its Chili John’s Meat Sauce, and Chili John’s Chili with Spaghetti and Beans Super Bowl products.
State Department of Ag, Trade and Consumer Protection inspectors found that the foods were produced either with temperature deviations, or without temperature control records. The recall is listed as “Class I”, meaning there is a reasonable probability that using the products will cause serious, adverse health consequences or death, however no illnesses have been reported so far. Consumers should discard those products, and people feeling ill after consuming them should contact their doctor right away.
The affected products carry the Wisconsin mark of inspection for establishment No. 545 and includes:
- Chili John’s Meat Sauce in 8 oz. and 16 oz. containers with lot codes of 2551, 2621, and 2631 present on the container.
- Chili John’s Chili with Spaghetti and Beans Super Bowl in 14 oz. containers (all flavors – mild, medium, hot, and extra-hot) with lot code 2661 present on the container.
