Even as the City of Sheboygan develops current, and long-range plans to attract the many younger people needed to fill demands for workers, those of a more advanced age are also finding it’s a good place to spend retirement. Sheboygan has been named by World Atlas as one of the “10 Welcoming Towns to Retire in Wisconsin”.
The online publication, Worldatlas.com, celebrates Sheboygan for its access to lakeside living with its prime location along Lake Michigan. Natural attractions play a large role in its inclusion, with mention of activities like water sports and sailing, beachcombing, and hiking the trails at Kohler-Andrae State Park.
Nature isn’t the only attraction, according to World Atlas, which recognized Uptown Social for providing residents over age 55 with opportunities for socializing, taking classes and improving senior life. Also a plus – Sheboygan’s median home price of $259,000, a figure that mirrors Wausa, another of the “Welcoming Cities” Wisconsin offers its senior citizens.
