A Grafton man was being assessed at a mental health facility after he threatened to kill himself, his family, and shoot up a dental office in that village on Friday.
Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Deputies responded at around 11:45 a.m. Friday to both that office as well as the residence where the suspect was holding his family. Officials learned that the suspect was experiencing a mental health crisis and had recently made multiple suicidal and homicidal threats, including murder-suicide and “suicide by cop”.
The suspect’s wife was able to exit the residence and was taken to a safe location after she’d confirmed her husband’s declining mental health and access to weapons.
The man was confronted by Deputies as he attempted to flee in his vehicle, but remained confrontational and non-compliant. He was tased without success, and so a less-than-lethal weapon was used to subdue the subject who was given medical care on the scene and taken to a hospital for treatment, and eventually to a mental health unit for evaluation. Criminal charges of Terroristic Threats are pending, and more charges could still be filed. The Ozaukee County Sheriff said that there was no ongoing threat to the public.
