MILWAUKEE, WI (WHBL) – The Milwaukee Brewers fell to the Arizona Diamondbacks 5-1 in their series opener from American Family Field on Thursday night.
Tobias Myers got the loss after giving up one earned run on four hits and three walks over four innings.
Garrett Mitchell slugged a solo shot in the seventh inning for the Brewers’ only run as Arizona held Milwaukee to just two hits.
The D-Backs plated three runs in the top of the fifth to break a scoreless tie and give themselves the lead for good.
Pavin Smith homered in the victory, while Brandon Pfaadt earned his tenth win after striking out 12 and allowing just one run on two hits in seven innings. He also tied a franchise record by striking out seven straight batters.
The second game of the series is set for Friday night with pregame coverage on WHBL beginning at 6:35.
