MILWAUKEE, WI (WHBL) – It was an eventful Wednesday for the Milwaukee Brewers.
First, the Brewers clinched the NL Central title after the Cubs fell to the Athletics 5-3 Wednesday afternoon. Then the Crew walked off the Philadelphia Phillies at American Family Field.
Jake Bauers stepped up in the bottom of the ninth and laced the game-winning single as the Brewers earned a 2-1 victory.
Devin Williams earned the win in relief while Freddy Peralta gave up the lone run on two hits and struck out nine batters over five innings. Milwaukee has won three-of-five and is 88-64.
Carlos Estevez gave up that game-winning single to Jake Bauers to earn the loss. Aaron Nola struck out nine batters and gave up one run on three hits over seven innings.
Alec Bohm slugged a solo shot for the Phillies’ only run as Philly remains first in the NL East at 91-61.
The Brewers now welcome the Arizona Diamondbacks to American Family Field for a four-game series. Game one is Thursday night with pregame coverage on WHBL beginning at 5:40.
