
Rodney A. Van Engen, 92, of Sheboygan, passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2024,
at St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan. He was born March 24, 1932, in Sheboygan to
the late Hubert and Selma (Fenner) Van Engen. Rodney graduated from Sheboygan
Central High School with the Class of 1950; he then went on to serve in the National
Guard.
On May 23, 1953, he was united in marriage to Beverly Koeser at St. Andrew Lutheran
Church. She preceded him in death on January 8, 2014. Rodney had a strong faith
and was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Sheboygan Falls.
Rodney worked at Trilling True Value for 12 years and then drove truck for Piggly Wiggly
for 28 years before finally retiring. Rodney enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing,
golfing and playing Dart ball. He was very proud of becoming a member of the Dart ball
Hall of Fame. Rodney was also an avid reader and enjoyed traveling with his family
and friends, creating many lasting memories along the way.
He is survived by his son Mark (Debby) Van Engen of Wauwatosa, fiancée Carol
Frederick of Sheboygan, grandchildren; Lisa Van Engen, B.J. (Mary) Van Engen, Julia
(Twa) Hlatshwayo, and Jennifer (Nick) Kohl, great-grandchildren; Elisabeth, Grant,
Evan, Hannah, Memphis, Amelia, Aiden, Kailey and Olwaethu, great-great
grandchildren; Liam, Cassie and Addy, sister Jean Reinbacher of Little Chute, nephew
Gustav Nelson of Le Sueur, MN and two nieces, Laura Reinbacher of Little Chute and
Marj (Mark) Schmitz of Appleton. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife
Beverly, sister Sonya Nelson and brother-in-law Manfred Reinbacher.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at 11:00 AM at St.
Luke Lutheran Church, N6193 Hwy 32, Sheboygan Falls, with Pastor Karl Nelson
officiating. Inurnment will follow at St. Lucas Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit
with the family on Saturday, September 21, 2024, from 9:30 AM until the time of service
at the CHURCH.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Luke Lutheran Church in Rodney’s
name.
