It will be 2037 before a West Bend man is likely to see freedom again after his federal conviction for possessing child pornography. 39-year-old Brandon R. Gerry will follow his 12-1/2 year prison sentence by spending another 10 years on supervised release and will have to register as a child sex offender for the rest of his life.
According to court documents, Gerry’s activity was uncovered last year by Project Safe Childhood investigators who identified multiple online accounts used to possess, receive and distribute the materials through such platforms as Discord, MeetMe, Reddit and MeWe. His accounts also contained sexualized conversations concerning children.
Gerry is a repeat offender, having been convicted of distributing child sexual abuse material in 2018 when he was sentenced to five years in prison.
In imposing the most recent sentence, US District Judge Lynn Adelman said that there is a strong need to deter Gerry and others who might engage in similar crimes.
