Drivers exceeding the speed limit are becoming problem enough that the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office has taken to social media, pleading with drivers to slow it down.
Officials there posted one example from their radar readout showing a driver stopped for going 126 miles an hour on I-43, 56 over the posted limit. Such speeds, the Sheriff said, are extremely dangerous, not just for the speeding driver and the passengers, but for everybody on the road with them.
Especially with the high traffic volume expected for the Labor Day weekend, the public was asked to slow down, pay attention, and help prevent accidents. And just in case anyone forgot, the nationwide “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” enforcement campaign has extra officers on the roads watching for impaired drivers. That operation runs through Monday, September 2nd.
