Driving too slowly can draw the attention of law enforcement just as much as speeding. That’s exactly what led Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Deputies to make a traffic stop on I-41 late last month, and which resulted in seizure of a substantial amount of fentanyl and methamphetamine.
The Sheriff there says that a car was stopped for going way below the posted limit back on July 25th, and a registration check revealed the owner’s suspended license. When the deputy suspected there was more to the case the traffic stop turned into a drug investigation. That resulted in the seizure of some 230 grams of methamphetamine and 30 grams of fentanyl that the District Attorney alleges was destined for delivery.
The 39-year-old driver from Phillip was issued one charge of Possession With Intent to Deliver for each drug with a repeater modifier due to previous felony drug convictions. The man who was out on probation had his freedom revoked and is behind bars on $10,000 cash bond.
His passenger, a 30-year-old Appleton man, had similar charges and bond demanded as he also awaits trial on what could be his second conviction.
